NYR SCCA Solo II - Event: '1999 Event 4' 08/29/1999
Well, our fourth event of the season is done and what an event it was! We
were afraid that our turnout would be poor due to the NE Divisionals being on
the same weekend, however, we still managed to attract 80 drivers. I've many
people to thank so please forgive me if I forget anyone. First, thank you
Kevin Wallace for bringing the cones and arriving really early to help out
with the course setup. Thank you Perry Aidelbaum for helping with the course
design and also doing the novice walk through. Speaking of novices, we had
thirty novices with many being first timers. I hope to see you all back
again in October. Thank you Charles Karnati for allowing us to use your
club's timing display. Thank you Mark Valera for helping out with the
barbeque. Thank you John Heeg for showing up without a ride just to do tech
for us! Thank you Phil Parlato for being so generous to allow John to drive
your car. Thank you Artie Emerson for taking charge of safety when people
stepped out of line. Thank you Jeanne for controlling everything from timing
& scoring to workers to protest committe! (Don't ask...) Thank you Scott
and Bonnie for really doing everything involving the barbeque.
Being the Solo II co-chairperson has really turned out to be quite a
challenge. Without the help of all the above people along with perhaps a
dozen others these events would not be able to happen. We still need more
help with getting results mailed out and event flyers. Hopefully, someone
will step up and accept these responsibilities. Our next event is on October
3rd at Rye Playland Park. Our October 24th event is still tentative. Check
back for updates.

Well as always, I can't keep my two cents to myself... Most of you know me
as "the bitch at the event" but I'm really not that bad - just ask Rich -
well maybe not a good idea (only joking honey). As Rich has written these
events involve large amounts of work so we get a little stressed at times but
I really do hope that everyone enjoyed themselves and that we will see you at
the next event. I just wanted to put in a little thank you to Charles for
testing out the durability of our new timing equipment, it seems that they
were a good investment. As mentioned earlier we can use all the help that we
can get so I really appreciate everyone that has volunteered at the events to
help us. I did need to put in another thank you to Erik Jacobs, he is one of
the clubs novices that is always willing to lend a hand wherever or whatever
ungodly hour in the morning we need one. So when I mentioned volunteers I
don't just mean the veterans but also the novices because we can always use
fresh ideas. So thanks again to everyone and hope to see you in the parking
lot!!
